JA Youth Summit
Junior Achievement of Northern Michigan is known for creating experiential learning activities that are relevant for young students to the real world.
At the JA Youth Summit, student teams are presented with a realistic real-world business challenge idea. With the help of an adult mentor, they will work on that challenge throughout the summit, utilizing entrepreneurial skills to develop a business plan. At the end of the day, teams will present their ideas to a panel of judges, comprised of local entrepreneurs and volunteers, who will decide on the winning team.
Students will learn how to:
- Recognize characteristics and practices of successful entrepreneurs.
- Formulate and evaluate an entrepreneurial idea based on product, customer and competitive advantage criteria.
- Demonstrate business-planning skills of marketing, financing, management and ethical decision-making.
- Be exposed to and discuss leadership styles within teams.
- Present their ideas and solutions to a panel of judges.
- Celebrate! First, Second and Third Place teams will be announced.
All northern Michigan high school youth attending school are encouraged to participate.
