Time: 8:30 AM ET
At the 12th annual JA Youth Summit, student teams are presented with a realistic real-world business challenge idea. With the help of an adult mentor, they will work on that challenge throughout the summit, utilizing entrepreneurial skills to develop a business plan. At the end of the day, teams will present their ideas to a panel of judges, comprised of local entrepreneurs and volunteers, who will decide on the winning team.
Students will learn how to:
- Recognize characteristics and practices of successful entrepreneurs.
- Formulate and evaluate an entrepreneurial idea based on product, customer and competitive advantage criteria.
- Demonstrate business-planning skills of marketing, financing, management and ethical decision-making.
- Be exposed to and discuss leadership styles within teams.
- Present their ideas and solutions to a panel of judges.
- Celebrate! First, Second and Third Place teams will be announced.
All Northern Michigan high school youth attending school are encouraged to participate.
